SHERRY CARLSON - RESOURCE SOIL SCIENTIST

Sherry Carlson is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Scientists. Sherry is a Research Soil Scientist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

As a Research Soil Scientist, Sherry’s responsibilities include technical soil services including the dissemination of soil survey maps and land-use interpretations to employees, partners, and the general public. In addition, she works cooperatively with conservation partners on projects and events as well as providing technical or informational presentations to professionals or the general public.

Sherry is extremely knowledgeable in the areas of soil classification, interpretation, and data management, as well as training, informing, and assisting NRCS employees, cooperators, professionals, and the general public in understanding soil resources, its limitations, and suitabilities primarily with regards to land use management and conservation of natural resources.

In addition to her role with the USDA, Sherry is also a member of many esteemed professional organizations, including the Soil Science Society of Georgia, Association of Women Soil Scientists, National and Georgia Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Georgia Conservation Tillage Alliance, Georgia Master 4-H Club, UGA Ag Alumni Association, and the Georgia Envirothon Council. 

Sherry received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Georgia.
